Homeschool Tuesdays

One adult is allowed it join their learners for an interactive family experience. Due to room sizes, the student and one parent will be admitted. 

Each program's date, age range, location of the program, and theme are different, see below. 

The program is 60 minutes, with only 20 students per session, and must be pre-registered. Please enter the child's age at registration.

Mammoth Mystery (4th Grade Level) 
Tuesday, September 12, 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Help us solve the mystery of the museum’s Mammoth by untangling a scientific dispute about how old it really is. Some scientists say 1200 BCE while others say it might be older than that! Use the same tools and methodologies archeologists employ to understand the people of the past here at the Kenosha Public Museum.

Civil War Innovations (Middle School Level)
Tuesday, October 3, 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Science and engineering were incredibly important during the Civil War. New weapons were devised that would forever change the way in which wars were fought, and new technologies would forever change the way in which people lived. In this program, students will learn about the innovations and inventions that took place, as well as have an opportunity to design their own solutions to a problem of the time.

National Geographic: Plastic or Plastic?  (4th Grade Level)
Tuesday, November 14, 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Visit the Exhibition Planet or Plastic? curated with more than 70 profound and inspiring images from National Geographic, which offers solutions and information to mitigate the issue of plastic waste and to minimize single-use plastic consumption. In the Museum classroom, explore how the everyday plastics we use affect our world through several scientific activities including testing our knowledge of recycling and plastic decomposition, and an interactive trivia game.

Paper Marbling (all ages)
Tuesday, December 5, 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Get messy and create beautiful swirls of color on watercolor paper. This unique paper can be used for all sorts of paper goods such as gift tags, cards, or one-of-a-kind handmade books. A demonstration of two different ways of marbling paper will begin the activity and then students will make their own marbled paper using watercolor paint.
